A CHALLENGE
by Ralph Liebing, RA, CSI, CDT

OK, here’s a challenge for you!

This is your “square one”!. This is a suggested starting place; “malleable” and modifiable—it can be re-configured-- but you now need to solidify your ideas and plans-- putting your mind where your chart is!! [so to speak]

The task-- easy!!

In your mind you have at least one new program, function, or effort that you feel strongly about and think is something CSI should/needs to/ought to/has to/must develop and implement-- to the benefit of CSI AND its members. How do you want to organize and structure that idea of yours into a function, sub-organization or new part of CSI?

Now you CANNOT re-design or completely start CSI all over from zero, but you have a chance, here, to set in place [where you feel it is correctly located] a program, etc. with proper staffing [primarily volunteer—maybe with just a smidge of permanent staff time for assistance and coordination]. You create a new position or department, but it is preferred that it function and be placed “under” the purview an existing office/person/operation.

What you do want done? What type of “grouping” do you feel is right to do that? Who should be involved? What is the function of each? What the hierarchy and reporting sequence?

Caveat: [Hey, we’re not dumb enough to think every idea will be adopted!!!!]

This is an opportunity to express your deepest thoughts, feelings and inspiration; your new goals for CSI, and your solution[s] to what you perceive to be areas lacking concern, direction, operational effort or thinking. We will advise some forum, perhaps, where this can be submitted, formally, but until so advised, just do your preliminary thinking and planning.

CSIsters is an excellent recent example. Go! Do!
