PHASES OF THE MOON

Each month the calendar records the phases of the moon. They are so predictable that they can be established and set months and perhaps years in advance.

Astronomers have studied the changing moon pattern and have given us insight into the changes we will be able to observe [given clear weather]. The cycle merely perpetuates without human intervention, or action. Celestial and God-given, this amazing series of events is so wondrous-- so simple. We often, and much too easily, ignore it, but can, as we wish, enjoy it! It has little impact on us that we are aware of.

But there are other, similar rotational series that have more impact. Life itself is such a rotation, as we grow through ages [i.e., phases] and evolve into different mutations of the one singular persona-- each of us, individually. We change, not as predictably as the moon, but we still change.

All around us, both in nature [changing of the seasons, for example] and in human affairs, things change. The catch phrase is “only change is constant”. In that, there is fear of newness, instability, and adjustments. But at the same time there is hope, anticipation, new direction/outlook/possibilities/betterment/achievement, and the like. We never see change as a chance to fail or lose-- but always to make different and hope upon hope, better! Beyond individuals, families change; work and jobs change; companies change; corporations change; governments change; circumstances change; even leadership changes! And there is where we are today!

Leadership is-- no, will be changing! But as humans we wonder how this will occur; what will happen; and when it will happen.
In that, we tend to invest our optimism, our individual hopes, and our perspective for our organization.

Thank you Ralph,
As I'm preparing for my first region meeting for FY13 I'll have new chapter presidents and Region chairs on hand to plan the path for Middle Atlantic in FY13.
I plan to share this with them to hopefully do some inspiring next weekend.
