Dumb question - which section does one specify a knox box, is it considered part of the MEP specs or Architectural?

Concensus seems to place it in or around hardware in Div. 08. See previous discussion: Knox Box

The first time I specified one, I put it in Div. 13... not sure why now, but I guess it made sense at the time. Div. 08 sure makes a lot more sense to me now.

George, During buidling department review we usually see comments from Fire department regarding Knox Box, maybe that's why you placed it in Div. 13, I was thinking about Div. 10, but I'm unsure...just want to make sure its located somewhere in the specifications.

08-7913 - Key Storage Equipment seems reasonable.

I've seen it included in Division 10 in it's own section, or sometimes included with the fire extinguishers and cabinets. One time it showed up in a Division 11 section. My preference would be Division 10. This is a "device" that is only used by the Fire Department and they're not just for keys.

10 41 16 Emergency Key Cabinets is the section we use to specify Knox Boxes.
