What would be the most logical location to specify the Knox Box rapid entrance system? In the good old days of MF95 there was an unofficial location in Division 10 for such products named "Miscellaneous Specialties". Perhaps in MF04 Section 10 80 00 Other Specialties? Perhaps in Division 08? 08 71 53 Security Door Hardware 08 74 00 Access Control Hardware 08 78 00 Special Function Hardware 08 79 00 Hardware Accessories 08 79 13 Key Storage Equipment. At the moment this title appears to be the most appropriate. Thanks, Wayne |

I think 08790 because the other sections may not exist for a given project. One important note: please require the finish of the Knox box to be custom color/metal finish to be selected by Architect, or the very least, to match adjacent entry door finish. |

I've always added the Knox Box as an accessory item in my Door Hardware section. Such a small single item just doesn't warrant its own section. Never had a problem doing it that way, and the suppliers were accustomed to coordinating with the local fire authorities. |

I also specify the Knox Box in the door hardware section, then cross reference the elevator section to the door hardware section for this item. |
