In today's email Deltek indicates subscribers will continue to receive updates in MasterSpec Word until end of 2nd quarter (June 30, 2023).

Deltek had originally set the deadline to be the end of 4th quarter (December 31, 2022).

Hello - Do we know what the status of the Word documents will be when MasterSpec support is ended? That is, will they still be useable as Word documents albeit without being driven by the menu and macros? As an MEP firm we don't see the value in the new system as none of our clients uses it and it's a per seat license vs a site license. Myron K Hudson

They should be usable as Word documents.

The thing is that you will not receive updates to the Word documents -- updates will be pushed SpecPoint cloud. Updates such as changes in applicable standards, etc. That is one of the reasons to subscribe to a service such as Deltek.

VisiWord would make editing the Word documents easier and save oodles of time, if the macros no longer work. We have to use Word docs for one client, and I showed that the ROI on the subscription to VisiSpecs was about three months, based on the amount of time we would save. (I have no connection to Chalkline, who produces VisiSpecs.)

There are also other providers. I know nothing about subscription costs. Nathan Woods assembled a list here of what is available: https://discus.4specs.com/discus/messages/23/9834.html?1694023360

Thank you. I went to that thread and can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.
