It ain't slander if it's true.

Not sure if he can get an attorney to take his case if what you have said is a true statement of fact.

If you have stated a professional opinion, you may still prevail although not without a lot of heartache.

Also not sure that this particular will be getting a lot more work if word gets around that he is that litigious.

If you report something to the contractor licensing board your speech is protected.

I also suspect that are protected if reporting it to your client. On the other hand holding a sign with the statement in front of his place of business may not be protected.

If you are smart there is no reasons that you cannot say what your professional obligations say you should say.
