Have you seen the new Owner's Groups page on 4Specs?

What do you think?

I find it convenient since sometimes I forget search parameter changes like that there are now two websites for Technical Glass Products.

It seems like there may be opportunity for more groupings like these such as St. Gobain who owns CertainTeed, GCP, Sage Glass, Vetrotech, etc. or maybe even Soprema with their various acquisitions.

Colin, maybe get in touch with Holcim. They're buying companies (like Firestone/Elevate) and making good products (like mortar) but their website is pretty useless. You have to know what you're looking for and then you still have to drill down to find minimal resources. Very inefficient.

Example: They make a stucco mix but good luck finding anything useful as far as stucco systems or resources go. Considering everything happening right now when using stucco like continuous insulation, moisture migration, and water management I can tell you that I would be hesitant to include their product in my stucco spec. Just saying.

David,
Thanks for pointing this out. It will be helpful for checking to see whether 3 manufacturers listed in government specs are actually separate companies or part of the same overall ownership.

Good point Paul. How do the FARS address the level of separation needed to be able to call such companies as "separate?" I don't recall seeing such a discussion.

Whenever we're short one manufacturer, we always find Acme Manufacturing useful.

I worked for Virginia state agencies, so I'm not familiar with federal regulations. The most common problem I came across was when all 3 acceptable hardware manufacturers were Assa Abloy brands. I think EPDM roofing was also a problem when one of the major manufacturers bought out another, leaving just 2.

I am searching Deltek's Specpoint for their submittal register. I am completely lost. I don't see it anywhere in their videos or menus. Has anyone found how to create a SUBMITTAL REGISTER in SpecPoint?

Hadley, Specpoint doesn't have that capability. The only document that it will automatically create is a table of contents but you have to export the entire project to get one.
