Peter, This is my personal belief and safe bet. Just look at the statistics. Hispanics are the fastest growing population in the US. I read a report that said that one in 7 people in the US are Hispanic. Look at any technical bookstore and you will see Spanish/English construction dictionaries and several books translated in Spanish. Heck, our very own CSI is working on a Spanish Masterformat 2004! |

Our LA projects were entirely bilingual. Managers spoke and wrote english (kinda -ha). Foremen were bilingual and smarter than the managers. Labor 100% spanish-speaking. Most productive team of people I've seen anywhere; excellent craftsmanship. The excellent specs (I was not a spec writer at the time :-> ) got as far as the fax machine (sent to subs blitzkreig-like), then were relegated to the waste paper basket. Maybe two copies of specs at the job; $15M project; 4 months. Lots of pointing and doodles. In short - you're right. It's an invasion. We're better for it. |
