Working on a commercial project and we got a substitution request to use LLumar Solar Control film. Any one spec this or have experience? It comes in a wider roll width which will eliminate a horizontal seam if we use it. https://llumar.com/na/en/ |

Are they single pane windows or IGU? What was the originally specified? I have used LLumar before, but it was on older educational projects where the windows were existing and we didn't replace the glass. |

Renovation. IGU. Blackout/Whiteout needed to hide some millwork that is being constructed in front of interior and exterior storefront. |

I've never heard of problems with Llumar films, however: 1. I suggest doing a side-by-side comparison between data sheets of specified vs. submitted. 2. Consider doing a mockup on the existing glass with both films and see if you are getting the desired aesthetic. 3. If you can contact the original glass fabricator or manufacturer you might want to find out how the film will affect the glass performance including risk of heat-buildup, breakage, glass coating failures, etc. |
