So apparently Firestone was purchased by Lafarge Holcim - https://www.holcim.com/media/media-releases/acquisition-firestone-building-products-fsbp-bridgestone-americas-usa-roofing

and will be changing its name to Elevate.

At least their website starts out with offering access to their reps - https://www.firestonebpco.com/us-en so perhaps that is a good thing.

I wonder if Genflex will be manufacturing their membranes since that is one of the "sister" companies.

It just keeps getting harder and harder to find 3 manufacturers who aren't interconnected when you're writing a spec for government work!

Melissa, did they say if/when they plan on changing the name?

Will Elevate continue to use the Firestone brand?

Ken,
From what I understand (I had a verbal discussion with the reps specifically on this issue after the L&L), it was name change only. They ensured me that we can still get the same products that we are use to specifying for TPO, PVC, EPDM, etc. I cannot speak to how long they keep Firestone in their marketing arsenal, but for now the reps said if we wanted to say "Elevate (formerly Firestone)" that it would be sufficient.

I really hate goofy marketing names. "Elevate" sounds like a new erectile dysfunction drug.

I don't get it. If a company is well respected and been in the roofing buisness for over 40 years (and the tire business for over 122 years)....why change the name?

Paul Sweet: If you are short a third manufacturer for public project reviewers, just add "Acme Manufacturing." Did it for years in North Carolina. No comments. Not even a laugh. I guess public reviewers didn't watch cartoons when they were kids.
