I'm looking for advice, a definitive sample, guide, or available master spec section related to the above MasterFormat title/number, either for use on projects, for at least for R&D purposes. MasterSpec offers 019119.43 BECx. The NIBS Guide to BECx contains sample language for BECx specs. NIBS WBDG offers National Performance Based Design Guide (4.1 Building Enclosure) schedules. I've attempted a custom section before, but have not been successful due to the number of variables involved. |

Edward, I have a draft 01 83 16 that I put together for use with an 01 91 19 BECx spec that's a couple years old but may be an okay starting point for you. I found the drafts on WBDG to be unfinished and tried to make sense of it using ABAA and a few ASTM standards on BECx and ASTM test methods. I'm sending it to the email address you have on the CSI website. Please send me feedback, thoughts, suggestions, etc. as I never really got to finish my versions either. I think these sort of specs will continue to be rabbit holes until the industry figures out what it really wants to be if/when it grows up. |

Ed: I'll send mine along as well, hoping for your feedback. We've used it for a few years with seeming compliance in the field. Phil Kabza FCSI CCS AIA SpecGuy Specifications Consultants www.SpecGuy.com phil@specguy.com |
