Does anyone have information on an update for AAMA 621? It was withdrawn in 2019 with no replacement: ~Voluntary Specifications for High Performance Organic Coatings on Coil Coated Architectural Hot Dipped Galvanized (HDG) and Zinc-Aluminum Coated Steel Substrates Withdrawn October, 2019. This document will no longer be updated by AAMA and it has not been replaced. (AAMA 621-02) Is another organization picking this up? Is there a new ASTM or other standard that's not on my radar? Now that AAMA and IGMA have merged to create FGIA, does anyone know of specific individuals to contact with questions? I sent in a request to their general mailbox. |

I haven't run across this yet, but quickly emailed a PVDF coatings rep I have to see if they know anything. I checked the Arkema's Kynar 500 specification and technical data and it still lists AAMA 621. I'll share any information I get from the rep. |

AAMA 621 is currently being updated and is still acceptable to reference per my rep. FGIA, which merged with the AAMA at the beginning of the year, will be updating the reference, but no timeline as to when that will be released. Issues were the difference in warranties between Extrusion and Coil (Merger of AAMA 2605 + 620) and substrates. |

I've been asking the paint reps and the metal panel reps about AAMA 621 for a couple years and until now nobody has known whether it's being updated or replaced. In the meantime, I've been specifying coil-coated galvanized steel without referencing it. With the forthcoming update, I wonder will finishing galvanized sheet, aluminum sheet, and aluminum fabrications be combined into a new standard? |
