A local major municipality uses 16 division format for their Div 0 and 1 spec sections. They are not willing to upgrade to the industry standard. I have briefly reviewed previous posts on 4specs defending industry standards. I need more, several years ago CSI issued a statement saying that AIA and CSI no longer recognize 16 division format, but I am unable to locate that link. I would like to include it in my discussion with the city. Any other advice would be helpful.

Hello, Jerome. It might be worth mentioning that most cost estimating programs, such as R.S. Means, rely on the the most current version of MasterFormat. This would not mean much in terms of Division 01 sections, but it may help you in your plea for use of current conventions. I wish you well.

City of Houston still clings to 5 digits, but permits use of the current CSI format for "technical sections." They last updated their stuff prior to MF97 so some of the sections numbers are quite old.

There is a 100 KB limit here per uploaded attachment. Each of my files exceeds the limit. I will try another way.
