We specified trimless slot diffusers in a board room ceiling. The finisher mudded them in with mesh tape. And they have cracked all the way around. I can see the outline of the frame. Any suggestions? Russ Hinkle |

My understanding from our USG rep is that paper tape is stronger than mesh tape. However, assuming the root cause of the cracking is vibration caused by air movement, a better solution might be to install mudded-in flush reveal trim around the diffuser perimeter, such as by Pittcon, Gordon, or Fry Reglet. You may not want to see the reveal, but I'd rather see a sharp-edged reveal than cracks. |

We had the same problem with trimless access doors, finally gave up and use frames. As Dave said about the reveal, a frame looks better than a crack. |
