One of our Construction Administration people was punched in the jaw by an irate subcontractor. Luckily it was a glancing blow and the person was not seriously hurt. The general contractor immediately threw the guy off the site and will probably never let that worker back on the project.

The CA person is considering filing a police report and trying to get the subcontractor's license revoked from the state.

What else should we do?

Call the cops. It's assault and that's that; have them arrested and jailed.

Certainly the police should be involved [hope it isn't too late]. And to comment to the licensing agency is legit, but it is their call as to revocation [and they made rely on past history of the person, etc.; may be tough to achieve but worth the effort].

I am not trying to be negative on this, but the incident needs to be "explored" [investigated] as to cause, provocation, events prior, and other circumstances. The violence is not jusitifable in any event, but there may be a lesson in all this, and it would be most valuable to know the full extent of the circumstances.

Another good reason not to have direct communications with subcontractors. I hope your CA person is OK. Call the cops.

I would agree with filing the assault report with the police. But going after the guy's livelihood (his license) may be going too far. Even if you think this guy is a @*&%*&, do you really want retribution? (It's my opinion that there's already a whole lot too much of that in the world today.) I doubt that there is even any grounds for license revocation in this case, short of perhaps a felony conviction. Deal with the simple assault, and leave it at that.
