I am accustomed to specifying around one of the major national elevator companies' models. The owner-builder for a project I'm working on has brought in this company, who is an equipment integrator supplying packages to independent elevator companies. I'll probably let the owner and Abell work out their own specifications, but would like to inform our architect client of any issues or advice from those familiar with the company. |

I don't have experience with that company, but I gad a similar situation several years ago. University with a lot of elevators (most with less than 4 stops) was successfully serviced by a third-party company that installed elevators designed with different types of third party components. Once I got past the issue of sole-sourcing this, I was faced with using discrete product data to specify a system (cables, controllers, cars, etc.). Some stuff was from the well-known primary manufacturers, but many components are purchased from the same subcontractors the elevator manufacturers use. I found it difficult since I usually specify elevators as "packaged systems" so I was unfamiliar with all of the components I needed. The university's preferred vendor was helpful, but really did not understand specifications or CSI formats so it was challenging. |

I have worked on several projects in SW Ohio and Northern KY with Abell providing hydraulic elevators or upgrading existing systems. I find them easier to work with than some of the big-name companies and have always been impressed with the people onsite doing the installations and service. They put together a good elevator. |

It's reassuring to know that they are Abell to do good work. |
