HELP! I have been tasked to source a round skylight that is flat with a double glazed insulated glass unit versus a double glazed acrylic dome. Diameters of 18" to 36". I searched the entire 4Specs offering but no cigar. Thanks, Wayne |

Well, there's your problem - you should have searched for a skylight, not a cigar. So this is like a horizontal porthole? One of those glass layers will probably have to be laminated. |

Stop the search. I have found what I am looking for. Thanks Lynn. |

I don't know of any that provide flat insulated glass. Why's that such a driving issue? Ron Geren, FCSI, AIA, CCS, CCCA, SCIP www.specsandcodes.com |

Here is what I sourced. Company was not on 4Specs but it is now. @Ron, Why is flat glass the driving force? Because the designers showed that image to the client without knowing how to build one or if this style is available. Go figure. Go to http://sky-techglazing.com/Cir_CM_Glass_Skylights.htm |

Wayne: This is good to know. Usually for circular skylights, my clients want the tubular type. But this appears to be just your typical skylight with the only difference being that it is round rather than square or rectangular. Ron Geren, FCSI, AIA, CCS, CCCA, SCIP www.specsandcodes.com |

Looking at their nice little detail, I can't help but imagine how much fun it will be building that circular wood curb (by others?), and the circular flashing (by others?) that keeps it relatively water-tight. All things are possible to those with large checkbooks... but I see a value engineering exercise in your designer's future, Wayne. Let us know if this ever gets built. |

Our office did a flat round skylight a few years ago over an interior swimming pool on a hospital campus. Referred to as an oculus skylight here: http://archpaper.com/news/articles.asp?id=4972 The round skylight was by Skywall and was actually canted at an angle and mounted on a precast cone shape we insisted on referencing on the drawings and specs as a "trucated dome". The precast formed the interior face finish of the cone and the exterior was covered in metal panels and daylighted on a patient sun deck, including pedestal pavers hand cut to provide a 1/2 inch slot drain around the perimeter George, at times it felt like everything was by "others". |

I wish I could use “By Others” for many things: • Hard decisions: “By Others”; • Bills: “By Others”; • Clean up: “By Others”; • Dieting: “By Others”. |

In 1977, I built my house with two circular skylights. The insulating units were fabricated by Viracon; they were mounted with Stanlock gasket. |

Love the fact that Sky-Tech has "Specs & Broachers" on their website - and when you click on it, it changes to "Specs & Brochures". Their specs are not current, though. |
