For a project currently out for bids: We have a 45 minute-rated (fire-protective) oversize (9 foot tall) wood door with a glass area greater than 100 square inches (approximately 4 times greater). We know this will have to be a tested assembly. Does anyone know if the standard wood door manufacturers do this? I've sent an email to those listed asking the same question as above, but wanted to get additional input. Is this going to have to be a special door? Thanks. |

I once had to look this up for a project, but it didn't get used. TGP has their Hardwood series fact sheet showing up to 1,714 sq. in. per piece in a 45 minute door application. Their PDF fact sheet is here: http://www.fireglass.com/framing/hardwood/Hardwood.pdf Good luck. |

For rated wood doors with larger glass lites I tend to look at TruStile, and I tracked down a few others in a recent spec so let me know if this helps or if you need more. Found what I needed though it wasn't oversized, but as I recall had a good range of tested assemblies and can do about anything custom you need too, I'm sure even with custom testing at a premium if they don't have it already. But with their range hopefully they do, worth asking. |

Thank, guys. We've solved the problem. It seems most wood door manufacturers can do this, up to either a 9 or 10 foot high door. So we're good. |
