one a secondary note, does anyone elses "spidey senses" kick in when a waterproofing insists on one specific waterproofing system - and only that one (especially one i have never heard of?) |

It's a very good system, something that some of our clients insist on using. it's ancient technology that works really well. some sort of secret sauce laurenco uses in their bituminous products.
It is not an inexpensive system. the detailing is very elaborate. But it's been around forever, and works very well.

One of my clients (a world-renowned architectural firm) had a strong preference for many years for Laurenco's waterproofing & below-grade vapor barrier systems. These were considered Rolls-Royce-quality systems, suitable for museums & other high-end institutional projects. They seemed like ancient, unfamiliar systems when I was first introduced to Laurenco's offerings, but the client had good experience and had developed a trust they weren't willing to compromise.
This client eventually opened up to more modern systems, and I haven't had anyone ask for Laurenco for several years. It's interesting to see their "up-to-date" website, which looks like digitized documents of their old original information. |
