Grace Dry-Block and BASF Rheopel Plus--

Comparable so one may be substituted for the other?

Thanks

I just realized that you didn't get an answer about Dry-Block and Rheopel Plus.

I am not an expert, but I think they're comparable.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you specified an admixture in the CMU and also in the mortar, you might want to make sure they use the same manufacturer for the admixture in the mortar as they use in the CMU.

I specify them as comparables, and agree with Liz -- the additive in the CMU has to be the same additive in the mortar and grout.

Thank you both.

Odd that I can't find the BASF product on any of their websites. Is it that new?

Try typing in "BASF Admixture Systems"

Grace takes exception to changes made to ASTM E 514 after 1974 when performance requirements were apparently eased. See the notes in their downloadable specification for Dry-Block. Grace claims performance that significantly exceeds current ASTM E 514 requirements; I do not know if Rheopel Plus makes the same claims.
