ASTM has retired the above noted standard for asphalt coated fiber glass plys used in roofing. Does anyone know what standard has replaced this? |

Below is from ASTM: ASTM WK40928 - "A Negative Vote on a prior ballot requested the inclusion of information relating to laying lines. Unfortunately, due to administrative procedures, the D2178 standard has been withdrawn by ASTM because all negative votes on the revision of this outdated standard had been found persuasive. D2178 must therefore be reinstated as soon as possible in order to prevent it from disappearing from the book of standards. The current ballot item serves this purpose. Only the addition of a new section 7.4 is open for ballot. All other revisions to D2178 will be considered in the next round of ballots or as new business for the task group." Work Item Status: Date Initiated:02-13-2013 Technical Contact: Michael Noone Item: 012 Ballot: D08 (13-01) Status: At Society Review "A Work Item (WK) may be a new standard or a revision to an existing standard that is under development by a committee. New standard Work Item descriptions include title, scope and keywords. Revision Work Items descriptions include designation, title and rationale. ASTM publishes Work Item descriptions in the interest of openness, as well as to solicit input from interested stakeholders who may not be members of the committee. If you would like more information about this work item, contact the Staff Manager given in the work item description. If you would like to join ASTM and participate in the development of a work item, please visit: http://www.astm.org/JOIN. Complete the online membership application process. When prompted to select the main committee that you wish to join, select the committee of jurisdiction that is identified in the work item description." |

I wouldn't hold my breath. They most likely will not replace it. |
