Hopefully I am not violating any rules of the "Discussion Forum with this post. I am involved with writing some specs for a project on a quick time frame (what else is new?) which involves a couple of systems that I have not had experience with (see thread above also). The second system is a architectural terra-cotta rainscreen and baguette system. The project architect has Boston Valley Terra Cotta USA as a basis of design but wants to open it up. I am still learning about this system (MasterSpec does not have a master for this type of system), and I need to identify some alternative systems quickly. Does anyone have experience with these type of systems and know of systems similar to Boston Valley's terra cotta rainscreen and baguette systems? Although I have been aware of "terra cotta" (the term) for years and years, I have never detailed or specified it on a project.

I didn't keep my bookmarks, but I did some research on rainscreens a few months ago, and started this thread and from the links in it, and some related searches, I know I came across some terra cotta assemblies in the Seattle area that are probably what you need. I don't have time to go through the search process again, but here is the thread that might help get you started: http://discus.4specs.com/discus/messages/24/6309.html

Several years ago I worked on the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, although the terra cotta rainscreen was specified by the curtainwall consultant.

The extruded terra cotta tiles and baguettes, and the extruded aluminum support grid, were designed around products of two German manufacturers, Moeding Keramikfassaden GmbH and NBK Keramik GmbH & Co. Both of these companies have website translations into English.

Dale,
DCAMM, the Department of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance in Massachusetts, has a standard master for terracotta rainscreen walls. I'll email it to you.

Lisa,
Could you email the terracotta master to me also?
I have a project the Architect is using it inside and out as a statement finish.

the systems are pretty propietary. I've typically gotten Boston Valley -- and used them as the basis of design, but have allowed bids by other (Moeding and NBK, as listed above). However, they have to submit all details, and engineering for their systems. The modules are different for the systems and the supports are different, as well.
