Comments or Section [if you can share] regarding porcelain tile [12 x24 inches] for an exterior wall application. And total wall construction if you will.

Thank you

I no longer have my library since I changed jobs.

My kneejerk suggestion is to contact Custom Building Products (http://www.custombuildingproducts.com/) if you're looking for an adhered system. Good products; great information resource. Let me know if you need a contact person. As a general rule I'd suggest a medium bed mortar with high shear bond strength if you're going for a bonded system. They can walk you through the TCNA designs that best fit your design. Mapei and Laticrete should be able to provide equivalent systems and information.

System will depend on your substrate and climate.

Are you looking for some form of water managed system?

Porcelanosa (http://www.porcelanosa-usa.com/home/products/building-solutions/exterior-facades/ventilated-facades.aspx) has an excellent anchored, ventilated facade system and some beautiful porcelain as well. I am not familiar with their bonded system.

use proprietary system - setting material, grout, and WPing (if required) - warranted by manufacturer for intended use. use any TCNA exterior wall tile installation method. ask setting material/grout manufacturer for specific advice about large format tile installations.

One important item to know is that in the upcoming 2012 IBC code reduces the size and weight of tile or stone that can be used on the exterior of the building, it will be lowered from 15 lbs per SF to 9 lbs per SF. And the size will go from 720 square inches or 36’ in one direction to a maximum of 24’ in any face dimension nor more than 3 square feet in total face area.
There are three Tile Council of North America (TCNA) details for exterior tile installations (others may be used if proper waterproofing and flashing are incorporated into the details). One is a direct bond to masonry/concrete W202E-12 the other is a scratch and brown over masonry/concrete and the third is over wood or metal studs with a cement backer board (CBU) W244E-12

As I said, check with Custom; they're a wealth of information.

Thanks Dale.
