Is vinyl-faced blanket thermal insulation (aka metal building insulation) available with a perforated vinyl facing (to keep it from being a vapor barrier)? |

Check with JM. They used to have a formaldehyde free blanket in a perforated wrapper. |

Thanks, Ken. JM's "EasyFit" is Kraft-faced or unfaced, perforated for ease in slitting or tearing it into narrow strips. If this is what you referred to, it's not exactly what I had in mind, though I'll see if it's acceptable. (We're looking for vinyl facing, perforated "all over" to thwart the vapor barrier.) |

Note the second line in their info: "Effective at controlling moisture – the plastic facing is a vapor retarder that resists water vapor transmission. ComfortTherm is also available with a plastic facing that does not act as a vapor retarder, for use in hot, humid climates." |

JM's product is available as a perforated film-encased batt, but we were looking for perforated "metal building insulation"--wider blankets for draping over purlins.
We found it: Bay Insulation of South Texas (supplier to Ceco Metal Buildings) faces Owens-Corning glass fiber blanket MB insulation with "Lamtec WMP-50" (laminated scrim-reinforced film) which is perforated in 8-inch wide "channels" (i.e., strips; the adhesive is applied to unperforated 8" strips between the perforations so it won't clog them). Bay sent product data from the manufacturers of the unfaced blanket and facing components, but they don't have any literature of their own on the combined product. |
