I know this forum isn't meant for advertising, but I'm sure each of us has found interesting and unusual products that might be of interest to others. A thread of such items would be useful. These posts would differ from the frequent requests for help, in that they would be a simple notice. To keep the thread "pure", perhaps it would be limited to a single post for each product, with discussion being carried on under the general Product Discussions heading. That would avoid having the products themselves being lost in comments. "Unusual" obviously is subjective. While one person may have been specifying depleted uranium door hardware for years, to most of us, it would be unusual. Or, it's possible someone has been specifying only hollow metal doors forever, and is astounded to discover flush wood doors. I'll follow this with a first post, but will defer to Colin's ruling; if he believes existing threads are sufficient I won't object. |

As long as specifiers are posting about products, I am very flexible. I do try and avoid manufacturers postings about their products. Colin Gilboy Publisher, 4specs.com 435.654.5775 - Utah 800.369.8008 |

Stone doors About thirty years ago, I specified a stone door for an existing museum. The door itself was cut from the stone veneer so it wouldn't be obvious from the outside, so my part was mostly finding the hardware. I haven't thought of stone doors since, until I accidentally ended found the Tueren-Art website, which features beautiful doors fabricated from natural stone. |
