(Not sure where to post this, but since this seems the most read discussion group, and thought it appropriate enough here.)

How does one best prepare for the CCS exam? Are there sample exams? Has anyone put together a more detailed list of study topics than the one on the csi website?

Dear Anonymous,

1) Are you a CDT? Passing the CDT exam is a prerequisite for taking the CCS exam. The CDT exam is not difficult if you have mastered the material. All of the advanced exams (CCS, CCCA, CCPR) are much more difficult, most candidates fail on their first try.

2) Have you downloaded and reviewed the free study guide for the CCS exam from the CSI website?

3) Do you have all of the reference material upon which the exam is based? You must master this material before taking the CCS exam.

4) Your local CSI chapter may sponsor a study class, it may even be free.

5) If you have not yet begun studying, it is probably too late for you to pass the CCS exam in the Spring 2009 exam window. Plan ahead for the Fall 2009 exam window instead.

I was recently speaking to a LEED AP about studying for that exam...she said because she has small children, she could only study 3 hours a day for 6 weeks. Do the same for CCS and you'll be fine.
