I have a possible client who is building a condo in So FL, but the developer wants to file with the State of NY to solicit and market the condos to NY buyers. It requires them to register with the state of New York (NY filing). It is their way of protecting their residents from out of state developers/soliciters. More than half the states do not allow developers from other states to solicit/market to their residents without being registered with the State. It is a long and expensive process. Otherwise, you have to wait for them to visit Florida before you can contact them. They have have been doing that but they would like to advertise in NY.
Any thoughts on what this might entail?

I see ads for Florida condos in the Wall Street Journal all the time. Perhaps your client can contact them for more information since I'm sure they would want more advertising dollars.

The developer has got to put on his "big boy pants" and get registered. If he wants to somehow get around the law, he probably shouldn't be in business. I don't see why this should be any of your concern.
