Anyone have a preference for where to specify "off-the-shelf" aluminum ladder (eqpt, roof top, wall, etc.) systems from companies like O'Keeffe's and Alaco Ladder? 05 5000 seemed more fitting for shop/field custom fabricated items, rather than products with an actual product number.

I have always included them in 05 5000, along w/ several other manufactured items like alternating tread devices (LaPeyre stairs), stair nosings, downspout boots, etc. All of these are included in the MasterSpec section, along w/ manufactured alum ladders.

Agree with Jeff.

Did y'all know there's another manufacturer of alternating tread stairs? Precision Ladders. They were at the CSI show last year.

We include them in 05 50 00 in a Part 2 article for factory fabricated items.

These can include ladders, ships ladders, work platforms such as this; and also handrail brackets for otherwise shop/field fabricated handrails; interlocking metal plank decking; and grates.

Any of these items can live in their own Section if they are a significant piece of the work, but they seldom are and we have never had an issue with combining them into 05 50 00.

I always included them in 055000. While many (most?) aluminum ladders like these are manufactured, they could be shop fabricated. Plus, various other items in the metal fabrications section may be factory fabricated. It is a rather catch-all section.
