What are the most commonly used MasterSpec sections for any given project? I’m referring to the comprehensive library. Attempting to pull together a list, I just need a general idea.

This is a fairly lenght list and depends on your building type and to a certain degree on your location. The architectural sections may be as few as 50 to 60 for a "cold dark shell" work to over 100 for a school. This does not include related site improvements. I don't think anyone is going to give you a very good comprehensive listing.

01 6000 Product Requirements
01 7300 Execution
07 9200 Joint Sealants
08 7100 Door Hardware

Pretty much have all of the above on every project, although I do remember a warming hut for a ski area without some of these.

Any given project? As Mr. Jordan pointed out, each project is unique. Does your given project have doors and windows? What type(s)? That will determine what Sections you need (Steel vs. wood vs. composite vs. storefront vs. ????). Do your openings need glass? Does your project even have an exterior skin or is it an interiors project? Structures vary. Skins vary. Finishes vary. Everything varies.

Once you've selected your list of Sections as your starting point, none of those Sections will be the same once you modify them for your given project.

I suggest that you look at the available PDF of the comprehensive Table of Contents and determine for yourself what you think your list should include. My guess is that you may want to look at the other packages that ARCOM and others offer and see if those less comprehensive libraries offer you an easier list to work from.

There is no 'one size fits all' option that I know of.

This is not for a project. I'm looking for answers more like Tom's. What MasterSpec sections do you use the most?

I subscribe to ARCOM ASC Basic library...and I have not used each/every section, and have only occasionally needed to "buy" additional sections from "supplemental" library. Thus from my perspective, ASC Basic library has at least covered "most used" sections...and less $$$ than comprehensive library.

My list would be different from Lynn's - my dominant project type over the last ten years has been transportation maintenance facilities. Taking Lynn's list, I'd remove anything related to laboratories and healthcare and add several sections on vehicle maintenance equipment, parts storage, metal and plastic gratings, etc. It really is all about the project type. As a general reference, our vehicle maintenance facilities frequently have upwards of 150 spec sections that get used regularly.
