We have a project where there's going to be new tile showers (wall and receptor) in an existing hospital building. The architect wants to have the basin be as low in height as possible (no reinforced mortar bed with the receptor essentially sloping to "0" at the drain). Any suggestions on how we can accomplish that referencing TCNA details? Or are we asking for future problems? I'm still planning on specifying the shower pan membrane, but what I'm concerned about is no reinforced mortar bed. And, of course, I'm writing the section now and it needs to be done by the end of the week. Tracy L. Van Niel, FCSI, CCS |

For surface-mounted, ADA compliant shower pan, see Tile-Basin by KBRS, Inc, www.kbrsinc.com This pan can be tiled-over and can have compliant ramp. |
