Does anyone have spec section 312113 - Radon Mitigation that they are willing to share, the local building department is asking that the documents include Radon Mitigation for a project in Doral, FL (So. FL) we understand a hazardous mitigation consultant will need to be retained, for now we are looking for a basic spec to provide something for the bidders. I have included a beefed up Below Slab Vapor Barrier spec section, but the architect is asking for more...perhaps if I jump thru hoops they will be satisfied? |

Like many building systems, I think radon mitigation is done by having various construction systems and elements that together provide the required mitigation. You mention one of them as the underslab membrane - I did one that also had a layer of what was looked like a composite deck drainage system to move the radon, plus some piping to collect the gas, and then a ventilation fan. I'm not sure it makes sense that all of these (assuming that the system designed is something like this) appear in one section. However, I put the "drainage system," which was marketed as a radon mitigation material, in its own section with a name (which I can't remember) something like "Radon Mitigation Membrane." |

There is a Radon Mititation section in the UFGS master. Unfortuately you need SpecsIntact to read it. If you don't have the program, I can convert the section to Word for you to transfer into your format. Email me if you want it Margaret mgcccs@spexresources.com |

I did a quick search using Google and found two things: - The UFGS guide specification for radon mitigation, as a PDF file. - The Florida code for radon mitigation. The PDF file requires extraction of text or conversion to a word processing file. The Florida code indicates that there are several acceptable methods for radon mitigation. This requires design decisions which would be necessary to edit a guide specification into a project-specific radon mitigation specification. |
