It appears that New Jersey requires documents submitted "for filing with a public agency or for the owner's legal documentation requirements" to be dated, signed and sealed; only an embossed seal is allowed, and only on the opaque copies (signatures and dates may nevertheless be on the reproducibles). Reproducible documents, apparently, may not be sealed, only signed and dated. However, it appears that sealing is only required for public agency filing and the Owner's record copies, and not on other sets used for bidding and construction (which presumably would bear the reproduced signature and date, but no seal). There are also strict requirements on what may and may not appear in the "Title Block" and on the specifications title page (which can be submittted for pre-approval, but apparently are not required to be). Am I understanding this correctly, or does every copy of every drawing and Project Manual (besides permit sets & Owner's copies) require an embossed seal? Can anyone with experience in NJ practice enlighten me? Thanks! |
