Any suggestions for a single spec section number that I could use for parking garage accessories like wheel stops, paint striping and graphics, column/wall bumper/protection, clearance bars, etc.?

I used to use a section like this that I made up in MF95, but there is just really no obvious place for it in MF04, and I do not want to have to write several sections for these items as they are used exclusively in the parking garage and I have no other use for a section like Precast Concrete Specialties (wheel stops), Wall Protection (bumpers) Concrete Paving (striping and graphics), etc.

Any suggestions welcomed...

Something under 10 7400 Manufactured Exterior Specialties? (includes fabrications of metal, wood, and fiberglass including accessories and appurtenances) Maybe 10 7453 Parking Garage Specialties?

When you are lost it is often good advice to stick together:

11 12 13 - Parking Control Equipment (MasterSpec Template Section; for pay systems)
11 12 16 - Miscellaneous Parking Accessories (My Imagination)

Except the items mentioned are not equipment, Steve. Nothing really moves by itself; they're all stationary, except perhaps for the clearance bar which will move upon contact.

I concur w/ Nina. I use Section 32 1700 frequently for parking accessories, whether located in a garage or as part of grade level parking areas on site.

I went with:

10 9810 - PARKING GARAGE ACCESSORIES

My reasoning being that "accessories" are found in section titles elsewhere in MF and include things like sealers and Div 10 seems to be the best place for a collection of things specific to a particular type of space and/or use.

I rejected using the term "equipment" for reason previously posted.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Lynn,

You are right that DIV 10 is the best place for static parking accessories, and that is where I had it in MF1995 specs.

But looking at what is in DIV 10 versus 11, the big items are clear, but there isn't always a crystal clear division based on if the item moves by itself. So I would not lose sleep calling these accessories to the parking control system and organize them adjacent to that Section. On the other hand I would never put them in DIV 11 if there wasn't a parking control system.

The original poster was asking where to combine items into one Section for convenience that a purist might put into many: Wheel stops (DIV 03 precast) Paint striping and graphics (DIV 09); Column/wall bumper/protection (DIV 10); Clearance bars (DIV 05). This is the default right way to organize the spec, but it often causes problems because you risk losing track of where the little items are, and/or you end up writing a complete separate spec for a very small value item not to mention your (DIV 03) precast concrete wheel stop is suddenly made out of recycled rubber.

What I really do not like is when items intended for a building interior (parking garage) get thrown into DIV 32 - Exterior Improvements because the same items are used in site work.
