For those who attended CSI's Master Specifier Retreat in Tucson earlier this year, you should have received a draft article I wrote regarding this subject as a part of my involvement on the Owners Task Team. I have since finalized the article and if you want the final copy, please email me at ron@specsandcodes.com. If you did not attend, I'd be happy to send you a copy, too.

I sent copies to a couple of owner-focused magazines (COAA and CURT; BOMA had too many restrictions, which would have required a complete rewrite), plus I sent it to Rob Cassidy, editor of "Building Design + Construction," who is involved on CSI's Brand Revitalization Task Team.

To date, I have only received a response from Rob. He suggested publishing it on their online magazine and not in the print version, which is okay by me. But he had some suggestions to improve the article for publication:

1) Shorten it. Delete portions discussing the next steps CSI could take in the certification process (i.e. Master Specifier), since it has little imediate relevance to construction owners.

2) Provide a specific example that shows how a CCS improved the quality of an owner's project, and an example of how poor documents that led to problems could have been avoided if a CCS was involved on the project.

I'm working on #1, but I would like some help on #2 from the vast experience represented on this forum. If you have examples that would fulfill one or both of the requested example types, please email me. For those involved in forensic/expert witness work, some of your cases could be great sources for the latter example type.

Thanks in advance for you assistance!
