I am doing my first project in Macau. Is there anyone that would be willing to chat with me for a few minutes about what needs to be modified from a typical approach in the specifications? Pop me an email if you have done a few projects there and have a few minutes to converse. Thanks! robin@spectraspecs.com

Must be a casino. I've read that the casino industry is now principally Macau-focussed. In fact, some of the largest "gaming" (as they like to call themselves) companies have moved their headquarters there. Vegas is not where the growth is anymore, nor even the many tribal owned casinos still being built in the US.

I have not done projects in Macau but I'm under the impression that it answers to the same requirements as Hong Kong, Shanghai, and other areas in China. Code officials used to prefer BS and ISO standards though we were allowed to base requirements on ASTM with little push-back. I have not done any work in China for several years now but when I was with a former employer we were able to use MasterFormat-based specs and modify our standard content to suit local preferences for numerous locations in China. RIBA methods probably work too; see http://www.thenbs.com/

http://www.alibaba.com/ is about as close as I could ever find to a construction product search engine for that region.
