Apparently there was a 6.0 earthquake today 25 miles off the coast of Cuba, felt in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, I can't fathom the thought of vacationing in Jamaica, drinking all that fine Jamaican rum and coffee and wondering if I'd had too much rum when the earth started to move. For all you Californian specwriters 6.0 is nothing, but back in 2005 there was an 8.6 earthquake off the Cayman Islands that did some structural damage...seems like there were several tremors in the world today, I'm not a religious man these days, but you got to wonder if god is trying to tell us something - tornadoes, record flooding, out of control fires, its downright scary. I knock on wood every time someone asks me about hurricanes in South Florida, we have been very lucky the past few years, I know many roofers who are praying for a hurricane, just not a really big one, now that's really scary. |

In California a big earthquake is s structural engineers full employment act. I know one engineer that jokingly says that his business plan is based on there being an earthquake. Just remember when East Coast people stay away from Jamaica because of possible earthquakes it creates better opportunities for those from California to enjoy Jamaica. |
