"I think it's important that more of the staff become better able to write specifications and know the ins and outs of contract administration."

Thank you, Architexts! Now if only that would happen in my office...

And in Indigo Architect, shared by Tara Imani, AIA, CSI, on Linkedin:

Devil's Advocate -

And how do staff learn about specifications and contract administration?
Very unusual to learn about it in school.
Doesn't do any good to whine about it.

Solution: Inhouse education using CSI education courses modified to reflect firm's practice and available tools.
Instructors: The specfier and other technically oriented architects.

In my experience, staff welcomes this type of education.

Amen, Robert. A couple of us at Flad (one of the CA guys and me) are working on just that sort of thing.

I forwarded this comic around to my studio, since this is also the time when the local CSI chapter is promoting their classes. One of the guys said the best reason to take the class is so that "you can ask Anne more intelligent questions". I liked that.

Gotta love that! (Being known as a wise woman instead of a wise-a55)

Great idea to use the cartoon to promote CDT classes, too. Thanks.

Was delighted to host Tara Imani, AIA, CSI, at last night's meeting of the CSI Houston Chapter. Because we had a speaker who spoke about the economic forcast for construction in the the coming year, she was joined by her husband who is a developer. I enjoyed talking to them both and was able to introduce her to a number of our chapter members. Although she is a member of the Institute, she left asking about how to go about joining the chapter.

Lynn, thanks for posting her name and link to her blog. I definitely think we will be seeing more of her in the future.

You're welcome! Glad she could be there. It's great to have CSI lauded by someone other than one of us loyal, old CSI folks. There's hope.
