Jim was an architect, respected architectural specifications expert, water-colorist, lover of mountains and ocean, grower and connoisseur of fine tomatoes, self-described "maker of sawdust," and a farm boy and paratrooper once upon a time. He is survived by son Rainer Waldman Adkins (Deborah Figen), grandson Sam Adkins, and the love of his later years, Mabel Adkins. Jim can be honored by donations to the Sierra Club, The Mountaineers or Tilth Alliance.
