I didn't know Bob Johnson, so I will let those who did post about him separately. Paul Tom Heineman was an old friend and mentor who I had the pleasure of working with many times on Miami Dade County Schools and Miami International Airport work, to name a few. He died on July 28, 2014. Sadly I don't have access to his bio, but I've reached out to his Miami colleagues for input, which I hope to post here. His Obit from the Miami Herald follows: HEINEMAN, PAUL T. Architect, teacher, writer, and lover of mathematics, the outdoors, and discussing the issues during extended happy hours, died on July 28, 2014 of a brain tumor, at the age of 84. Tom was born and raised in California until age 9, then spent many years in New England, and Baltimore before coming to Miami in 1978 to help design Metrorail. A celebration of his life will be held at Olympia Heights United Methodist Church 3801 SW 97 Ave, Miami, FL 33165, on Sat. August 23, 2014 at 11am. Jerome J. He conducted a course on spec writing for likely candidates among Kaiser Transit Group's Miami Metrorail staff. I was with the Group's architectural component, Harry Weese & Associates. I suspected that the course was his method of finding a replacement for when he changed positions a short time thereafter. He had taught so well, that when Paul left Harry Weese, I assumed his spec. writing role, due in large measure to his clear guidance and to my being the only one in Weese's Miami office that showed some talent toward technical writing in English. Paul also introduced me to the joy of artichokes, which had been an unknown vegetable to me. He will be missed.
