We're looking for a reflective film with a black surface to be used under batt insulation between ceiling rafters. The designer wants it for aesthetic reasons. Is it available, and if so, who makes it? Any help would be appreciated. |

You can get black faced insulation. Johns-Manville Insul-Shield is made for theater installations where black is required: http://www.jm.com/insulation/building_insulation/products/hig1214dk_insul-shield.pdf |

You might also check Knauf and I think Simplex Ceilings might have a similar product |

I don't think the black-faced insulations mentioned are reflective, but I could be wrong. Of course, there are potential issues with flame spread on such a product. Mylar is the typical reflective film--I don't know if it meets ASTM E84 or not. |
