I'm reviewing a set of specs for an earlier phase of a project that I'm working on, and it includes a spec section for "Hydrostop fluid applied roofing'; it is 100% acrylic elastomer; 55 mil thickness... and I've never heard of it.

any comments regarding this product? I'm not sure to stay with this product type or recommend completely discarding it.
thanks

Anne,
I've never heard of it either. But, before you devote much time to research, are you sure it was already installed?

Could the writer have meant "Hydrotech?" American Hydrotech is on 4specs.com under 07 5600 Fluid-Applied Roofing.

Well, when I Googled it, this came up:

http://www.hydro-stop.com/

I know of no one who's used it, but at least they have a web site.

I checked their product data sheet and I have some concern.

According to their technical information, the product complies with ASTM D 6083, which is recognized by the IBC for liquid-applied coatings. When I checked the standard, it is titled "Standard Specification for Liquid Applied Acrylic Coating Used in Roofing." The scope of the standard states it covers "100% acrylic elastomeric latex coating used as a protectective coating for roofs."

In other words, the standard isn't for products used as roofing.

yes, it was installed with a 20 year warranty on a portion of the roof already -- that is not connected to the new portion of the roof. it looks suspicious to me, but I have found that Hawaii often has weird products that aren't used anywhere else. And yes, its not Hydrotech -- I have no questions about that product at all. its Hydrostop.
as for its having a web site -- a lot of the products sold on late night cable TV have web sites, but I wouldn't use them on a public building...

I believe this product is used in Florida as well as Hawaii.

Just by coincidence, a friend of my owns a Painting/Coatings contracting firm here in California and is installing this product on roofs in San Bernadino
I will try to get some more information from him
He said he has a disk that he can give me.

okay, so what you're telling me (all of you) is that this is a coating, not a "roof product" (even though it may be used on a roof location).
This is for a government building, and it just seems like the wrong product for this location/installation. I'm going to kick the issue back to the client for decision.
thanks..
