A comment from our WP Consultant on this product: "This type of pan has been used on a couple other projects I have been involved with and [2] of the projects it was a nightmare, because almost every sleeve through the slab for the plumbing was not located properly. As you can imagine the mess involved with coring the slabs, moving walls, etc." |

Note that the ICC Plumbing Code has some very specific (overly specific IMHO) on shower pans. If ICC's Plumbing code is in your area, check it out. |

Jerome,
I am surprised you appear to be blaming "This type of pan..." for poor coordination of penetrations. Please correct me if I am misinterpreting your intent.
The solution to this is simple. The "tile-redi" shower pans that I am familiar with from Schluter can be cut as required or repositioned as required with the resultant edge gaps filled with a mortar bed mix, sloped to drain to match the pan. Waterproofing is then applied over the pan and mortar. I have seen this done and the result was satisfactory. |

First off the comments were from a WP consultant, second the Tile Redi Shower Pan Robin is talking about is not a Schluter product. Schulter's product is part of a system that is able to adapt to most situations. The Tile Redi Shower Pan product is not adaptable and has been making the rounds lately in S. Florida, the manufacturer asked our firm to prepare specifications for their product, we decline and recommended a colleague of ours. I will have to call him to see whether or not he took on that assignment and what his opinion of the product. |
