Need to find a standard that I can research and specify for cold rolled steel flat bar which will be 6 mm thick as part of a glass guard assembly. No drawings or reason as to why the use of cold rolled but have had no luck finding any standards.

This is aproximately 1/4". Actually 0.2362 inches. In the US you are unlikely to find steel sold in metric thicknesses so suggest that the drawings call out thickness in inches.

Cold rolled steel is sometimes prefered because the as rolled surface is more uniform.

You might consider AISS C1018 or C1045.

These specifications are not normally used by structural engineers since they control the chemistry but do not specify minimum mechanical properties. Suggest that you consult with your structural engineer.
