This product is from Europe, and is being proposed as a rated enclosure around conduit runs and pull boxes. I have no experience with the product and wonder if any of you with international projects have used it. It appears to be a 1" or 2" thick shaftwall type board that is assembled with screws and stainless steel straps. They are a subsidiary of Etex Group, from Belgium. Thanks, George A. I've used this, George, some years ago to upgrade a CMU wall to a higher rating in an industrial plant. Seemed to be a good product for this type of work and yours. Can't recall, now, how this came out, but I think it was a problem with getting it shipped in from Belguim was prohibitive; that may be resolved by now. Plant people in Pennsylvania were very helpful with good literature and details, etc. |

Thanks, Ralph, it's good to hear the positive experience. I can't seem to find any US or Canada contacts for them now, however, so I wonder if they have pulled back from North America? George A. Everding AIA CSI CCS CCCA Cannon Design - St. Louis, MO |

They have an Omega Labs and a W-H listing, for the product I am talking about. There is also UL-U417 (?-writing from home, number from memory)for a similar product, but that is for thinner sheets on studs. The stuff that is being suggested is "self supporting", in that there is no traditional metal stud, channel, furring, etc. Only metal straps and clips to hold the whole thing together. We are asking for more info from the C/M including testing, etc., but I want to get out ahead of the issue (for various reasons) George A. Everding AIA CSI CCS CCCA Cannon Design - St. Louis, MO |
