What's your favorite sealant to use in this situation? (Existing exterior window wall, interior fit-out including new partition walls that terminate at window mullions). I had one that I used, thought it was an Illbruck product, but can't seem to find it in the product literature...don't know if the product is discontinued or if my brain is... |

Our regional Tremco representative sends product update emails, which I seem to recall included changing product names and numbers on the Illbruck product line. Perhaps your favorite product was reformulated and renamed? |

We use "Mullion Mate" closures, or a flexible strip gasket in lieu of just sealing the joints on both sides. |

Thanks, Ralph. That was it. Boy, was I confused. and, Lisa, thanks for that info, too. That explains some other things that confused me in this search... |

Lynn, Go to http://michaelrizzacollc.com/dwg/PartitionClosures.pdf if you have partitions terminating against glass. Wayne |

Hmmm...Wayne, I wonder if that's what the designer was thinking? Although each partition terminates at a mullion, that product almost fits the description on the drawings...I'll file that one away for future use. You just never know what you'll need. Thanks. |

We use Mullion Mate as well. You may be thinking of Willseal, which I think used to be an Ilbruck product, but seems to be independent now. www.willsealusa.com |

John, I think you're right and I'm glad to know the products are still out there. They do have a rather wide tape that may have been in the designer's mind, but it's definitely the wrong application here. (Commissioner) Gordon to the rescue...sorry, Bat Man. |

You never want to actually "seal" the partition to the window wall mullions using sealant due to differential movement. I specify a product called "EPDM Type EE1 3000" Series by Williams Products, Inc. www.williamsproducts.net |

OK, bit of a silly question (maybe) but since I have never had the need for a product similar to this one, in which Section would you typically specify this? 09 21 16 Gypsum Board Assemblies? Man I have to get our office switched over to MF2004 soon...I had to look that up instead of saying 09250 Gypsum Board Systems. It appears the conversion has been much wider spread in the US than Canada. Most Project Manuals I receive (typically from clients as reference from past recent projects) have still been in MF95 format, but most information available online is in MF2004 format. But not hard to see why our office hasn't switched. I just recently got Office 2007 (used to have 2000) and Acrobat Pro 9.0 (was using *gasp* 5.0) so we aren't necessarily on the "bleeding edge" of technology...besides, it's only been 6 years since the new (?) MasterFormat system was released right? LMAO Ride it like you stole it!!! |

Well, in this case, since it's a build-out, (and most likely in every case, or you'd design it better so the walls wouldn't intersect the mullions, but would meet up with a real wall - but maybe I'm just being overly optimistic) I've put it in the gypsum board section (09 2900 in this case) as a gypsum board "trim" along with an end cap, such as Gordon has. I've yet to hear back from the designer, though, so I don't know if they will accept this solution from a mere spec writer. And welcoume, Paul! |

I've always put this in the gypsum board section. |

I concur with John Particularly since it needs to be installed at the same time as the drywall |

I would have to agree. Every time there is a mis-alignment in the field, it is the drywall sub that has to fix it. I just had about 150 windows with this same problem. |
