Does anyone have experience with Stiles, Titan, DFW or Forder as manufacturers?

Nope, nope, nope and nope, but none of the above are SDI members and only the first two are HMMA members, for what it is worth.

Stiles is a custom manufacturer based in the Central Valley in California and we see them regularly on our projects. No negative experiences with them. Titan is based in Sacramento and we've seen them on projects, also with no negative experiences.

No experiences with the others.

I work for a door/frame/hardware distributor and I have never heard of any of them and I have never seen them specified.

Thanks, y'all, for the information. The project is in CA, and so is the developer, so it makes some sense that they would include these manufacturers (at least the 2 in that area). And as long as they can produce product meeting the standards in the spec., especially the fire rating testing, I can include them. [The other 2 are out. I couldn't find any information about them on the glorious world-wide web.]

Lynn - You may also want to look at Door Components Inc. (DCI) who are from the LA area. They seem to be very competitive here (we're north of San Francisco) and we've had no issues with their product as well.

Thanks, John. That's good to know for future projects.

For this particular project, I have a set of "guidelines" from the developer with a lot of outdated information and manufacturers. Y'all know how well those "guidelines" can work! So I'm forced to check all the references contained in the guidelines for accuracy and being current (I wanted to type "currancy" but that just is weird).

Lynn,

Stiles yes. Not with Titan, DFW or Forder. No problems with Stiles who are members of HMMA. I would not hesitate to include them as an acceptable manufacturer. Our standard practice is manufacturers who are SDI or HMMA members or members of both are acceptable.

Lynn,

Upon further review, Titan Metal Products, Inc. are also members of HMMA.

Go to http://www.naamm.org/hmma/hmma_directory.aspx for the complete list. I did not see DFW and Forder .

Thanks, Wayne. I did see that. BUT, when I clicked to go to Titan's web site from the HMMA listing, there's nothing there. It says that you're at the Titan web site, but there's no company info. So, I'd just as soon not list them. They'll have to prove that they are acceptable and can produce to the spec.

Lynn,

I found it with a search for Titan from within 4Specs.com

Interesting - that's a different site...I thought I had searched in 4specs, too, but maybe I didn't. That's usually my first thought.

Things are getting busy around here - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

A decent percentage of our work is in northern California and we have worked with Stiles on many projects without any issues.
