I am unable to find a 9/16" aluminum grid on Gordon or, indeed, a 9/16" aluminum grid anywhere. Other ideas? |

And that one is 1-1/2 inches wide. The panel selected requires a 9/16" grid. (Obviously, we may have to select a different panel) |

one of the standard grids on Gordon web site is a 9/16" wide aluminum grid. Series A, B, and D are available in 9/16" wide grid. http://www.gordongrid.com/Div9/grid/series.aspx# |

I do this sort of search every few months because we do a lot of MRI rooms. If you search for 9/16" on the Armstrong website you get several options that are aluminum. They tend to not be plain "T" shapes though and intended for high end work. They also have a stainless steel option, but it only comes in unpainted stainless steel. The aluminum systems are not as strong as the regular steel types and if you are in an intensive plan review situation by the permitting authorities you need to re-think standard ceiling details with closer hanger wires first on the aggenda. One thing I do know is that you need to talk to good reps from the manufacturers because (for example) I am not sure how to even tell you how to find the stainless steel option on the Armstrong website. it's just there....somewhere. |

I finally found the aluminum option on USG's website. It is the AX option for the DXT Centricitee that is 9/16". It's in the fine print under "Limitations" on the data sheet. |

Since this is for an MRI area, we rejected the reveal option shown on the Gordon site; the AX grid, oddly enough, reverts to 15/16" (at least that's all I could find on the USG site). So we changed the panel and spec'd a 15/16" aluminum grid. Unless someone can give us a URL that takes us to the exact product, I give up. Thanks for all your help. Y'all are great! |
