Quick question ... we had a product luncheon last week from a door company who told us at the time that Oshkosh Door Company has gone out of business. Oshkosh seems to have a working website and I just left a message in the general voice mail, but I wondered if anyone else had heard the same thing or could provide some additional information?? Thanks. Tracy L. Van Niel, FCSI, CCS |

Sent an email and called the 4specs contact there. Here is his response: -------------------------------------------- Colin, thanks for sending me this note. I appreciate it. I would like to assure you and anyone who asks, Oshkosh Door Company is thriving and doing well in the commercial door market. We have not closed nor do we have any plans to do so. I would be very curious as to where this person heard it from. Would you mind finding out and sharing with me? Any time a competitor makes a comment about another company, it always raises a red flag for me. I have had numerous situations throughout my career where a vendor, products rep, or especially a subconttractor claims that the specified company is out of business or the product is no longer available. More often than not, their information is bogus Thanks Colin for being a resource to assist in verifying this. |

Thanks for checking, Colin! I'll email you the name of the company who did the presentation. I agree with you, Richard. We've had a couple of instances where company A said company B was no longer in business (or a contractor said they had to make a substitution for something not specified because a company was out of business) and when we followed up, we found out it wasn't true. A Contractor that will stretch the truth (lie)? I find that hard to believe. |

We had a lunch and learn a few years ago given by a curtain wall manufacturer new to the US market I was not familiar with. They provided a regional reference for a project and architect that was using their system. When I contacted that Architect, they told me that they were not using that product and that the same presenter had referenced ME and my firm as using the product. |

Colin, I appreciate you posting this information here. I especially appreciate the fact that the other "posters" listed here actually take the time to check into comments made like this. This business is challenging enough, and no one has time to deal with childish nonsense! [Brad is my marketing contact at Oshkosh Doors - Colin] |
