Transparent Mirror Glass: Gray-tinted float glass with scratch- and abrasion-resistant, pyrolytically-deposited coating (complying with ASTM C 1376, Kind CS) on first ("subject" or high-illumination-level side) surface having both reflective and transmittance properties to permit private/unobtrusive viewing.
1. Pilkington; Mirropane T.M.

Note-I locate in glazing section, not mirrors section. If anyone else knows of another source, I would appreciate that.

In addition to Pilkington's "Mirrorpane," we have also included the following:

2. “SpyGlass” one-way observation glass as manufactured by Saint Gobain Glass.

But, admitedly, have not checked most recently to verify if it is still available.

Note Unregistered's reference to illumination. Some coordination with lighting design is required for this to work.

The Saint Gobain Glass product appears to be a UK product (the references that popped up on a web search were all from the UK). Viridian Observa is another name that came up as well, but that appears to be an Aussie product. I had been told at one time in the recent past that the Pilkington product was the only one available in the US. My spec is:

A. Reflective-Coated Vision Glass: ASTM C 1376, Kind CV (coated vision glass), coated by pyrolytic process over tinted float, and complying with other requirements specified.
1. Product: Pilkington Mirropane T.M. Transparent Mirror.
2. Glass Tint: Gray.
3. Visible Light Transmittance: 11 percent.
4. Visible Light Reflectance: 71 percent on coated side.

Just as an update, we often use this product at psych units and require that the glass be tempered and laminated. According to Pilkington, this product can be tempered and then laminated to a lite of clear tempered glass.

Tyipcally, glass fabrictors can now do this with no problem.
