Anyone familiar with this?

http://www.myspecwriter.com/

Looks like some sort of automated spec writing deal.

I've seen his (Dan Castillo's) name come up before with "automated" spec systems -- but this site looks more like a collaboration and hosting site rather than any specifications expertise.

Cool. The little cartoon globe shows "me" in Texas right where I am but, while having a consultant in Brazil and a client in Spain may seem a little unlikely, having production in the east coast of the United States really stretches credulity (yes, it is a real word according to Merriam-Webster). It's more likely that production would be on the side of the globe that we can't see.

I really haven't had much time to investigate this concern but I'm always a bit leery of things that claim to make my life easier. It's true my food processor saves a bunch of time on preparation but it takes much more work to clean it after use than my trusty kitchen knife.

I'm still waiting for the combination food/word processor, for those tasty snacks while you work.

Under Pro Services: "Need help updating or converting your specification specifications from '94 to the '04 format? Our SPECWRITER staff can help for as little as $5 per page."

Now that is a really good service ....or should I say job.

Somehow it's hard for me to have confidence in any system that contains this many typos in a single paragraph of their marketing literature:

Templates are saved list of your favorite specification section from the CSI MasreFormat list. There are over 7500 section numbers available to choose from. Assign a Templaye to a job and reduce the number of sections your team can choose from. The team can also search the MasterFormat list for the occasional section number mot in your Template.
